I wish I would have read the reviews, but being a Slinky, I didn't think I had to. I, too, ordered this because of the color; and, I too, received a plain metal one. I would have chosen a less expensive version if I just wanted a gray, metal toy. Of course now they are out of stock and don't know if they will be back in stock. I'm extremely disappointed.

I ordered this product through Amazon from Round Table Toys. It specifically stated that you would receive whatever color they sent you. I took a chance (hoping I wouldn't get the silver one, but wouldn't be too upset by it). I was pleasantly surprised that it came in my daughter's favorite color (of course that was purely coincidence).
The slinky is still the same fun toy for a girl and a boy! ;)

This is a nice product improvement from the original Slinky. We have one daughter who is autistic and really enjoys Slinkys. The issue we have had is the original ones will rust and discolor over time. These are a plastic that is coated over the metal before they are shaped at the plant (how do they do it?).
I bought a couple two months ago and can report they have lasted the test of time, they don't have the slinky sound ( or at least not as much) but still work fine and last much longer that the plastic model or the non-coated model.
Colors are very nice, we have gotten a purple and green. Don't know why they offer clear but I am not in Slinky marketing

I have ordered a color slinky for my loved one. When I received the product it was a plain wire slinky and NOT a color one that we were hoping for. When I reviewed the product, I realized that there isn't a place where the customer can choose a color for the slinky. I did read it was going to be picked @ random but I assumed the COLOR was going to be pickt @ random. The plain slinky could have been purchased ffrom another site for $2 or $3 cheaper. I don't regularly enter a negative comment but this one...I'M VERY UNHAPPY, yes, I can return it but I strongly feel I will be selected a "plain" one on the RANDOM deal...VERY VERY disappointed...you should not advertise "color" slinkys only to receive the same plain slinky we can get at any Walmart....the toy itself it's a classic but it would have been really cool if blue, red, or green slinky would have been such a nice unique surprise for my loved one's birthday...My anticipation turned out to be a disappointment. LOUSY LOUSY DEAL!!!

I ordered 3 colored slinkys in color for my 3 preschoolers as Christmas gifts. There wasn't an option for choosing the colors. I received them quickly and in excellent shape however, I am disappointed that I received 1 green, 1 red and 1 original metal.
